This piece was inspired by the beautiful Vista by who graciously granted me permission to use this NON-STOCK image for this manip...
This is also one of the only images I've ever done that I almost put into the "emotional" category, simply because the feelings I was trying to express were loneliness, sorrow, and silence as she watches her "true love" sail away. I know it's nothing new - basically The Little Mermaid near the beginning of the movie - lol! But I've always found there to be a sort of a melancholy attraction to this sort of a theme. Hope you like it!
Other credits go to: for the ship for the sky for the fins
Funny you should suggest the webbed fingers... I got that same suggestion on the other mermaid I had done recently (Check it out if you'd like - it's called "Merkynd Sorceress").
This particular model didn't have her fingers showing in the original photo, though, and as she was kind enough to let me use her non-stock image for the manip, I didn't want to deviate too much by adding in arms, hands, etc... As it was, I even used the skirt she was already wearing to make the tail! Thanks for the comments...
LOL! - I didn't realize until AFTER I had sent the "reply" comment to you that YOU were the one who had suggested the webbed fingers on my OTHER mermaid and faved it already! Too funny! Well it's STILL a fine suggestion, even if you HAVE made it twice now - hahaha!
Omg I think this is my fave , I have so wanted to do a mermaid like this for so long , I just have not had the time .
YOu did an amazing job !

Okay, having looked through YOUR gallery, I think maybe you're just teasing me now - lol! Seriously, I hope you DO like it, though... this was one of my favorite ones to work on, mostly because the original image of the model I used was almost SCREAMING at me to make a mermaid out of it! I'm still shocked that she gave me permission, since it was not a stock piece. Anyway, now YOU have no excuses... if I (who is still so new at this) could do a mermaid, I KNOW you can!

The story behind the painting I drew is already told. No more tear stains on the pages of my diary.
